Centre approves MITRA Scheme for textile sector, 7 mega national textile parks in India
Cabinet approved -MITRA scheme to enable the textile industry become globally competitive. The Mega Investments Scheme approval will pave way for setting up of the 7 National textile Parks in the country in the next 3 years. The Project involves an outlay of Rs 4,445 crore over the 5 years. The move is inspired by 5F vision of PM Modi - Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign
Govt believes that the MITRA scheme will help to build a World-class industrial infrastructure that would attract cutting edge technology and boost FDI and local investment in the textile sector.
MITRA will offer an opportunity to create an integrated textiles value chain right from spinning, weaving, processing/dyeing and printing to garment manufacturing at one location. Interestingly several states such as Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Assam, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Telangana have already expressed keen interest for getting the Textile Parks to their respective states.
